Scenes
Keep multiple timelines in one project — a horizontal master and a vertical cut, chapters, or experiments — each with its own tracks, transcript, and storyboard.
Scenes let one project hold several independent timelines. Cut a 16:9 YouTube master in one scene and a 9:16 TikTok version in another, keep a "safe" cut while you experiment in a copy of the idea, or split a long production into chapters — without juggling separate projects or re-importing footage.
What a scene is
Each scene is a full timeline of its own: a main track, overlay tracks, audio tracks, and bookmarks. Every project starts with a Main scene, which always exists and can't be deleted. Imported media lives at the project level, so all scenes draw from the same media bin.
Everything you and the agent do happens in the active scene — the one currently shown on the timeline. Per-scene state includes:
- The timeline itself — clips, tracks, captions, and overlays belong to the scene they were added in.
- The transcript — when captions are generated, the transcript is cached for that scene only; transcript-based tools (filler removal, transcript highlights) work per scene.
- The storyboard — the agent's editorial plan card is kept per scene, so each cut has its own thesis, target length, and beats. See /docs/agent/storyboard.
Export renders the active scene, so switch to the scene you want before exporting.
Switching scenes
The left side of the timeline toolbar shows the current scene's name. Click the layers icon next to it to open the Scenes panel, then click any scene to switch to it. The active scene is highlighted with a check.
Adding and renaming scenes
Adding and renaming currently go through the agent — there's no manual button for them yet. Ask in plain language:
Add a new scene called "Vertical cut".
Rename this scene to "Interview — master".
Add a scene called "Experiments", and keep the main scene untouched.
The agent handles adding, renaming, and deleting scenes itself — and like every agent edit, it's undoable.
You can also point the agent at a whole scene-level job:
Make a new scene and build a 30-second vertical teaser of this footage in it, leaving my current cut alone.
Deleting scenes
Manually: open the Scenes panel, click Select, pick the scenes to remove, then Delete and confirm. Or ask the agent:
Delete the scene called "Experiments".
The Main scene can't be deleted either way. Deleting a scene from the Scenes panel is permanent — the confirm dialog means it: it can't be undone.
Limits
- No manual add or rename UI yet — the Scenes panel switches and deletes; creating and renaming go through the agent.
- The agent only sees and edits the active scene. Switch scenes first, then prompt.
- Scene deletion from the Scenes panel is not undoable, unlike normal timeline edits.
- One scene exports at a time; there's no combined multi-scene export.
