Audio editing
Mix and edit audio: volume, fades, effects, and separation. Balance music, voice, and sound effects for a professional mix.
Control your mix. Adjust levels, add fades, apply effects, and keep your sound clean and balanced.
Audio tracks
- Audio tracks — separate tracks for music, voice, SFX
- Embedded audio — audio from video clips
- Linked vs unlinked — video+audio together or separate
Volume control
Drag the volume line
- Hover clip, see horizontal line
- Drag up/down for louder/quieter
- Measured in dB (decibels)
Properties panel
Select clip → Properties → Audio:
- Volume — precise dB value
- Mute — toggle off
- Stereo/mono — channel configuration
Fades
Add smooth transitions:
- Fade in — gradual volume increase at start
- Fade out — gradual decrease at end
Drag fade handles (small squares on clip corners):
- Drag right from start — fade in duration
- Drag left from end — fade out duration
Audio effects
Apply to clips:
Equalizer (EQ)
- Low shelf — bass boost/cut
- Mid gain/freq/Q — presence, clarity
- High shelf — treble, air
Compressor
- Threshold — when compression starts
- Ratio — amount of reduction (4:1, 8:1)
- Attack/Release — reaction speed
- Knee — smoothness of onset
Reverb
- Synthetic impulse response
- Adds space/room to flat audio
Delay
- Echo effect
- Feedback and time controls
Noise reduction
- Reduces background hiss/hum
- Strength control
Voice changer / pitch shift
- Changes pitch without duration change
- Cartoon, robot, or musical effects
Audio extraction
Separate audio from video
- Select video clip
- Right-click → "Separate audio"
- Audio appears on separate audio track
- Video and audio now unlinked, can move independently
View waveform
Waveforms show audio amplitude over time:
- Tall peaks — loud sections
- Quiet valleys — silence or soft audio
Linked clips
By default, imported video keeps audio and video together:
- Linked — move together, delete together
- Unlinked — move separately
Toggle link:
- Select clip
- Press
L - Or right-click → "Unlink"
Using the agent for audio
Let the agent mix for you:
"Auto sound design"
"Balance the audio with voice upfront"
"Mix music ducking under voice"
See Auto sound design for details.
Keyboard shortcuts
| Key | Action |
|-----|--------|
| L | Link/unlink selected clips |

| Shift + M | Unmute selected clips |
Tips
- Headroom — peak around -6dB, final mix -12 to -14 LUFS
- Music ducking — lower music when voice speaks (agent can auto)
- Clean voice — use EQ to cut low rumble (below 80Hz) and harsh highs (above 10kHz)
- Compression — smooths vocal dynamics; start with 4:1 ratio, 10dB reduction
- Reverb sparingly — subtle adds depth; obvious sounds artificial
