Insert B-roll from assets

Add imported images and videos as B-roll overlays on the beat or between main clips.

Enrich your edit with B-roll. The agent inserts imported images and videos as overlay clips, timing them to transcript beats or between main content.

What it does

  • Takes already-imported images/video (not stock/fetched)
  • Places them on overlay tracks
  • Times insertion to:
    • Transcript beats (natural pauses)
    • Main track clip boundaries
    • Explicit timestamps
  • Disables audio on B-roll video
  • Supports burst inserts (multiple shots back-to-back)

When to use it

  • Interviews — add establishing shots or reaction footage
  • Product demos — insert close-ups between steps
  • Story videos — illustrate narration with relevant visuals
  • Music videos — cut to performance footage on beat

Prerequisites

Must have assets already in the media bin.

Import first:

"Import these images: [file paths]"

Then insert:

"Insert B-roll from the imported assets"

How to use

Auto timing

"Insert B-roll on the beat"

"Add B-roll between main clips"

Specify assets

"Insert B-roll using the close-up shots"

"Add the reaction footage as B-roll at 0:45"

Duration control

"Insert B-roll, 2 seconds per clip"

"Quick B-roll inserts, 1 second each"

Timing options

| Timing | Result | |--------|--------| | beat | Inserts at transcript pause points | | interval | Spaced evenly (e.g., every 10 seconds) | | between | Between each main track clip | | explicit | At specific timestamp you provide |

What gets inserted

The agent picks:

  • Best match — uses asset names/content hints
  • Variety — cycles through available B-roll
  • Duration — fills the gap or your specified time

Audio handling

By default:

  • Image B-roll — silent (naturally)
  • Video B-roll — video audio disabled (muted)

Combining with other tools

Template + B-roll:

"Apply TikTok template with heavy B-roll"

Visual analysis + B-roll:

"Sample visual context, then insert the best reaction shots as B-roll"

Reframe + B-roll:

"Reframe to 9:16 first, then insert the vertical B-roll"

Tips

  • Import before inserting — the agent doesn't fetch stock for B-roll inserts; it only uses what's in the bin
  • Use descriptive names — rename assets to "intro-shot.jpg" or "reaction-1.jpg" so the agent picks the right ones
  • Check safe zones — B-roll overlays can overlap captions; nudge if needed
  • Burst inserts — for music videos, ask "rapid B-roll inserts on every beat"

Limitations

  • Only uses assets already imported (not a stock fetch)
  • Inserts as overlays (doesn't replace main track content)
  • Picks assets via heuristics (name inference, file metadata)
